Becoming Catholic- RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which people can question, search and inquire into the Catholic faith.  At St. Jude, members of our parish partner with those who are journeying to become fully initiated Catholics (Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation).  We recognize that people are in all different places in their journey and we are here to help you in any way we can. We are meeting Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. Mass in the rectory living room.  Call Cindy 818-889-0612 or email [email protected] to find out more about the process.

Baptism – for children 8 years and older  Children at the age of 8 or older are able to understand the promises made in baptism and the concepts of faith.  The preparation for baptism will include the child as well as the parents as they prepare to become Catholic and make the statements of faith themselves. Children 8 and older are baptized, confirmed and receive their First Communion at the Easter Vigil. We work with families to prepare the children over a period of time. For information on the process for your child, please contact [email protected] or 818-889-0612

Thoughts in Solitude by Thomas Merton

"My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always, though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone."
