Stephen Ministry

The purpose of Stephen Ministry is to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

Stephen Ministers are trained in Christian caring skills: how to listen effectively, how to deal with feelings, how to maintain confidentiality, and how to deal with people experiencing crises.

If you would like someone to listen, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support to you or a friend facing a crisis or going through a tough time, please call one of the Stephen Ministry Leaders: Mariann Harmon (805)495-1732 or Jean Marie Cull (805)497-6473

How can I help? Time Commitment for those interested in becoming a Stephen Minister:  After completing the 50 hours of training (meeting once a week for 20 weeks) Stephen Ministers meet twice a month for peer supervision. When they are assigned a care receiver they meet with them approximately one hour a week.  For more information on becoming a Stephen Minister please contact one of our Leaders: Mariann Harmon (805)495-1732 or Jean Marie Cull (805)497-6473
